Day 4 after quitting vapingA device with no last puff
What's happening in your body
A cigarette burns down and ends. It has to be lit, usually outdoors, and twenty of them make a countable day. A vape has none of those edges. It does not run out after a few minutes, it can be used indoors and at a desk, and it is small enough to live in a hand. So the habit gets welded to far more situations than smoking ever was. The desk, the sofa, the bed, the car, the bathroom, the phone in the other hand.
What to expect
Cravings in places where no smoker would have one. Reaching for a pocket or a bedside table before you have had a thought. The reach is a reflex, and it carries no information about how much you want to vape. It fades the way other learned cues do, each time it goes unanswered in that particular place.
Try this
Pick the one place where you vaped the most and change something physical about it today.
What else you could do
Move the chair, charge the phone in another room, put a glass of water where the device used to sit. Then write down the other places where you vaped and smoking would have been impossible, and work down the list over the coming days. In the car, put something else in the cup holder. By the bed, leave the table empty.
