1 year after quitting vapingA year without a number to quote

In shortThere is no figure for how much risk falls after a year without vaping, and inventing one would be wrong. What can be said is that for a year your heart has not been nudged many times a day and your brain has run without the drug. The long-term figures are only now becoming possible.

What's happening in your body

Smokers reach this day and are told that their added risk of heart disease has roughly halved. There is no such figure for vaping, and inventing one would undo everything these texts have tried to be. The studies that could produce it need large groups of people who only vaped, stopped, and were followed for years. Those people are only now becoming numerous enough to study, and you are one of them.

What to expect

Here is what can be said. For a year your heart has not been nudged many times a day. Your brain has run without a drug it once asked for every few minutes. The long-term harms of vaping, whatever they turn out to be, have gone without a further year of exposure. When researchers publish the first long-term figures, your exposure will already have ended a year or more ago.

Look at the totals on the home screen and at the first page of your Diary.

What else you could do

If someone you know is about to try, tell them one specific thing from this year that helped. The totals keep counting and the evening close keeps recording, for as long as you want them to.
