What's happening in your body

Imaging work in former smokers found that the extra nicotinic receptors, still raised at four weeks, had fallen to the level of people who never used nicotine somewhere between six and twelve weeks. You are past the far end of that window. The machinery your brain built to handle a constant supply has, on the best available evidence, been dismantled. That evidence comes from a small study of smokers. The equivalent scan has not been done in people who only vaped.

What to expect

Cravings now are memory and not chemistry, rare and tied to situations, and a strong one can still take you by surprise. It passes the way the others did. If appetite rose in the first weeks, it tends to slow from here. In smokers most of the weight gain came in the first three months.

Try this

Read your if-then lines from day twenty-nine and add whatever the last two months have taught you.

What else you could do

Then repeat the stairs and the resting pulse and set them beside the first month's numbers. Look at the money figure too. Three months of it is usually enough for something real.
